Plenty of workshops will put a set of gauges on your car and give the air-con a squirt of gas. Fewer will pull a dash out to get at the heater box, make up a hose to length on the spot, or drive out to a paddock to sort a tractor that is not going anywhere.

Floating a backhoe or a dozer into town to fix an air-conditioner costs more than the repair. So the van turns up with the vacuum pump, the gauges, the scales and a generator, and the work happens where the machine is parked.

Hoses crimped up on the spot.
A split air-con hose on an older machine is usually where a repair turns into a three week wait for a part that may not exist any more.
Not here. There are trays of fittings and ferrules in the van and a hydraulic crimper to match, so a hose gets made up to the right length with the right ends while you wait.
It is the difference between a machine back in the paddock this afternoon and one sitting idle until a part turns up.

Finding the fault, not guessing at it.
Gas that keeps disappearing means something is letting it out. Air that is cold at the vent but never cools the cab usually means something else again. Two of the photos below are what those jobs actually look like once the covers come off.
Blocked solid
A condenser packed with dust cannot shed heat, so the system runs hot and the cab never gets cold. No amount of gas fixes that.
All the way in
Some faults sit behind the whole dash. Taking one out and putting it back properly is a day nobody enjoys, but it is the only way to reach a heater box or an evaporator, and it gets done.
